 The St. David’s Hotel and Spa dominates theskylineof Cardiff Bay. It is no less impressive up close, the sail shaped roof capturing the essence of Mermaid Quay and the Marina.
As you enter, your eye is immediately drawn upward to the atrium that dominates the lobby of this 5 star Hotel. This time though we were heading for the Spa for some well deserved pampering.
After being handed our luxurious robes at the Spa reception we headed straight for the state of the art relaxation room. Here, massage chairs pummel and knead every inch of your body. The chairs were heated too - just what was needed on a chilly January day.
As that session expired we made our way to the downstairs pool area. This Marine Spa with its Thalassotherapy pool felt wonderful as you made your way from zone to zone. The water becoming more enriched with minerals as you reached your final destination of the underwater jet beds.
I left my wife behind at this point as I had an appointment with a therapist named Melanie. A neck, back and shoulder massage in one of the treatment rooms. Under her expert ministrations I felt the tension of my working week drift away. I felt rejuvenated as I waited for my other half to finish her treatment.
Making use of the complimentary juices and fruit the time quickly passed and she soon emerged from her facial looking as shiny as a new pin. You can spend as much time as you like in the Spa and make use of the Gym facilities too, should you feel that way inclined. We relaxed a little longer taking in the views across The Bay before deciding to head for home.
What a fantastic way to spend a cold January afternoon. We both agreed that this was something we should do again, and soon!
