An overnight stay at Mr. Underhills on Dinham Weir in Ludlow, Shropshire is to be recommended. Situated on the banks of the River Teme you really can’t get more picturesque than this.

A gorgeous garden which takes you right down to the river or (weather permitting) a pre-dinner cocktail on the veranda. Hopefully you'll bump into Mr. Underhill himselfMr Underhill Himself -a British Blue cat named after a character from "Lord of the Rings".

This is Ludlow’s only Michelin starred restaurant with rooms. The quality here shines through with handmade beds and Egyptian cotton sheets. Delightful views look out over the weir and the castle high above with the scents from the garden wafting in through your window. Ludlow itself is within strolling distance and is full of foodie delights.

Mr Underhills RestaurantReturning to the restaurant which is run by Chris Bradley a Michelin starred chef with no classical training - an astonishing achievement by anyone’s standards. The menu is delivered to your room before service so that you can iron out any preferences or allergies you may have. Once settled you can look forward to seasonal fare such as, asparagus velouté with pea fritter or Marches lamb with garden sorrel, mint and baby spinach. You may also be tempted by rhubarb crumble with ginger ice cream or pears poached with lemon and vanilla and pistachio parfait. Finish with coffee and homemade petit fours – delicious!

A stay at Mr. Underhills combines the three great elements, Eat, Drink Sleep and you can enjoy these in abundance thanks to Chris and Judy Bradley's hospitality. Upon leaving Judy supplies you with homemade biscuits for the journey, a lovely touch that makes you feel like part of the family. Which I'm sure will have you returning again and again.
