Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons

Nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside in the village of Great Milton is Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons. First opened in 1984 this two Michelin star establishment has been wowing guests for over twenty years.

As you pull into the driveway of this magnificent mansion you know that you are about to be treated like royalty. Your luggage discreetly vanishes to appear in your room by one of the hotel porters. The choice of rooms here are stunning. If you can, try and stay in one of the superior suite - Lemongrass and Opium are favourites with Asian influences throughout. These beautiful rooms are as serene as it gets, with vast walk in steam/shower rooms and stone beds to ease away the stresses of the outside world. All of the rooms are well appointed with all manner of modern luxuries.

Finding it hard to leave? Then don’t! The gardens here are a real treat, spread overLe Manoir Sculpture two acres with a vegetable and herb garden that supply the kitchens. As you explore the pathways a new discovery is around every corner. For example, a Japanese Tea Garden where guests can relax and enjoy their surroundings. Also, statues and sculptures abound as you round every corner. Young girls picking fruit to a wonderful scarecrow standing guard over the vegetable patch.

Prepare to be dazzled by the a la carte menu where you can expect to be tempted by seasonal offerings such as, new season soft poached gulls egg, white asparagus and bacon or braised Cornish Brill, scallops, wild asparagus, cucumber and wasabi. To finish try Raspberry soufflé with its own sorbet. Of course the choosing can all be done for you with the 10 course Decouverte Menu a sensational way to sample everything the Le Manoir has to offer.

If that isn’t enough to satisfy your thirst for all things culinary, why not try the cookery school? Taking on all levels of amateur cook, from the novice to the experienced. It's a great chance to work alongside the experts and gain some valuable knowledge to take home with you. Getting to eat what you cook is all part of the day’s activity.

Raymond Blanc has created a masterpiece in Le Manoir, something that should be acknowledged by those who visit. It is a whole package, not just dining but an experience to savour. It seems to give back to the guest and in so doing; you leave with a part of you wanting to return.
