It is easily accessible, whether on foot, by cab or on the Metro. It is all very easy to find and the native Catalans all seem eager to help you find your way. No visit to Barcelona would be complete without visiting the Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi. This colossal structure still remains unfinished and work continues with donations from public and the private quarter. Every corner that you turn in Barcelona seems to bring you into contact with Gaudi's work. From the stunning Batllo House to the Parc Guell and the Mila House or "La Pedrera" all stand as testament to this man's inimitable style.   There are many more sights to be taken in as you stroll through the streets. Las Ramblas is one of the main avenues to shop and people watch. Stalls line the promenade and entertainers vie with each other for your attention (and your Euros!). The entrance to the famous Catch the Cable car over the harbour and marina and take in outstanding views over the city and the Mediterranean. The open top city bus is an easy option to checking out some of the top sites. Hop on and off at your leisure and take in; the Nou Camp Football Stadium, the Gothic Quarter, Park Ciutadella, all the Gaudi landmarks. Not forgetting the beach of course. The accommodation here is world class, 5 star hotels like the ME Barcelona, Hotel Claris and the Le Meridien are all pretty central to the tourist trail. There are restaurants in abundance here but if you fancy trying something a little different and desserts are your thing then Espai Sucre is for you. Run by Jordi Butron formerly of El Bulli he has created the world’s first dessert restaurant. New additions to the Michelin list this year are, Comerς 24, Lluan's, ABaC and Restaurant Saint Pau. All high end dining and the tables are very much sought after so booking in advance is recommended. A weekend break, however, may not be enough to take in all that Barcelona has to offer. There is always more to discover, more to whet the appetite. In visiting just once, you know that you'll return again as once is never enough.  |

Boqueria Market lies off Las Ramblas. Bustling with activity, this is foodie heaven! Fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and meat line the walkways. Tapas bars here are among some of the best in the city. Track down Pinnochio's which is as authentic as it gets; first class food from one of the best known bars in the market.
